Dr. Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann is a Member of the European Parliament and Chair of the Committee on Security and Defense (SEDE), head of the FDP delegation in the European Parliament, and a member of the FDP Executive Committee. As one of Europe’s most prominent voices on security policy, she shapes the debate on the defense capabilities of Germany and the European Union—ranging from strengthening Europe’s defense and technology base to cybersecurity and Europe’s digital and technological sovereignty.

About the speaker
Before moving to Brussels and Strasbourg, she served as chair of the German Bundestag’s Defense Committee. In the 2024 European elections, she led the FDP as its top candidate. Strack-Zimmermann is convinced that security and digitalization are two sides of the same coin: without resilient digital infrastructures, innovative defense technology, and key European technologies, there can be no strategic sovereignty.
